ABOUT ME

My name is Josh Zelem and I am the proud owner of the State Farm Agency located at 316 Main Street, Farmington, CT. I earned the privilege of being a State Farm Agent in November of 2018. I say “earned” because a State Farm Agency is not business you can simply buy, it’s a business that has to be rightfully earned and requires a passion for helping others. A passion that was instilled in me by my family. My father’s work ethic and my mom’s humility helped shape who I am today and I deservedly attribute all of my success to them.

Owning a business is not something I envisioned growing up, but today I can’t see myself not being a State Farm agent. I have been provided with an invaluable opportunity to create a stable life for my loved ones while also helping my community manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and achieve their dreams. State Farm continues to help my community grow and I am lucky to be a part of a company which invests into the growth of people.

Born and raised in Hamden, CT. I recently graduated from SCSU with a degree in Business Administration, with a marketing concentration. Insurance wasn’t something I was expecting to do, but it very quickly became something I am passionate about. Helping our customers put their hard earned money back into their pockets is a big source of pleasure for me. My licenses include property and casualty, and I’m currently working on my life and health licenses. My goal is to always give customers the most value and help them maximize their coverage. It has always been a great pleasure to help and assist other people.  Whether that was by selling a vehicle, assisting with care in the home for an aging family member, listening, building connections for future business interactions, or an acute attention to the details to provide excellent customer service. The Farmington Valley has been a part of my entire life.  Was born at Hartford Hospital and raised in Canton.  At the age of 9, I asked to be enrolled into the Martial Arts Institute for my birthday.  Here I studied Kenpo karate all the way through college.  Achieved Black belt in 1996 and continued to study until 2rd degree black belt.  I graduated from Canton Jr./Sr. High in 1997.  From here I attended a summer internship at Easter Connecticut State University prior to starting in August of 1997.  Graduated with Bachelor of Science in Communication and double major Early Childhood Development from ECSU in May of 2001.  Over the years, my love of travel deepens with each new adventure.  After living in Northern Italy for 2 years, moved back to CT and now reside in Plainville.
